Another Herpes Question

Hey everyone,

I have been reading through the posts trying to get an understanding of how herpes is transmitted and what my exposure is, but I'm still worried and would like some feedback.

On the 13th or 14th I shaved my genital area as I usually do - first with a electric razor to shorten the hair then a Gillette razor to shave everything smooth.  Within a day I had what seemed like an ingrown hair (or a couple) which wasn't unusual as I've experienced them before. I squeeze them quite a bit to release the fluid and to get it to heal but am confident I totally irritated both of them.

Well, that Friday night (the next day or same day) I was out on a date and we ended up making out and performing mutual masturbation on each other.  She told me before things went further that she had genital herpes.  After I was touching her I did not touch myself and immediately went and thoroughly washed my hands.  She ended up staying the night (did not have sex) and she gave me a handjob in the morning (during the handjob she spit on her hand a couple of times for lubrication and she MAY have slightly touched herself when she pulled back her underwear), while I very gently touch her as well.  I then hopped in the shower to get ready for the day but do NOT recall if I touched myself before grabbing soap and washing my hands.  After I realized that I should have been more careful about the order of how I did things I thoroughly soaped up and washed everything.

I know it has been said many times on this forum that you cannot transmit herpes via a handjob, but I have developed herpes like symptoms that are very concerning.

The spots where my ingrown hairs were have not healed and remain irritated and slightly *****.  They are not itchy and only hurt if I am aggressive with touching them.  I do not feel anything else ... not tired, no swelling, no fever and overall I feel fantastic.

I am worried that because of my ingrown hairs it would have been more likely that herpes could have been transmitting during our encounter.

I have seen a Doctor and he said it looks like herpes and has ordered some tests, which I have done and am now waiting for results for ... but the stress of this is killing me.

Any thoughts?

Thanks...

Hair can act as a barrier preventing the virus from entering and getting a handjob is zero risk.

Just typing here to try and let out some stress.  This has me very worried, although from what I'm reading it sounds more and more like some other kind of infection or something, which is kind of relieving.  The doc says I have 2 weeks until I get my results ... that's going to be a long two weeks.

Can anyone tell me how common it is for those who go through their first outbreak to experience flu symptoms, swollen nymphodes, itchiness and pain and having it hurt to urinate?  I don't feel any of these... although sometimes I think there is a slight tingle but I feel like that could be my mind conjuring it up.

I haven't seen any new bumps develop, just the 2 and the base (in the hair) and one along the shaft.  Although these don't appear to be getting worse, they also don't appear to be getting any better.

Any reassurance would be wonderful.

Thank you for taking the time to reply.

I'm curious to know if its possible that this is something else that just appears like herpes, perhaps some kind of infection or reaction to something.  After the encounter I was travelling for a week and stay in a couple different hotels, used public washrooms, swam in public pools, used different soaps than I was used to, etc...

Any thoughts?

Your correct its not transmitted by hand  The only real risk would be if she had herpes whitlow, which is hand herpes but with whitlow she would not give you a handjob as the finger pain would be unbearable. Also since she has it genital, spitting would not be a issue as its not in the oral area. If your test comes back positive it would not be from that affair as there was no risk. Also you tested to early as only 8 weeks post exposure would be a good indicator.

I should add that I did not noticed any symptoms on her and asked her today if she was showing any symptoms when we fooled around and she told me no.
