Yes it is highly likely you were not infected owing to the lack of emerging symptoms. As you are aware, sex workers have a higher incidence than the general population of HSV2 hence for your peace of mind should that be required then testing at 12 weeks will be conclusive for you.
So what do you think are my chances of getting herpes from this exposure? Like in numbers? eg 1/1000 or etc.
Probably 1 in 2500, very tiny.
Wow, it looks like I have been overly worried about this. This seems really low. I have had weird tinglings and burning ever since but maybe it is my mind magnifying normal body sensations to think that they are abnormal. I want to test next week. Do you think I need to?
Don't forget that the odds are lessened even further by:
- you aren't sure whether the CSW had HSV2, more than half do not
- you have had no typical herpes symptoms whereas a good proportion of those infected actually do
There is no point in testing until at least 12 weeks after exposure for a conclusive result.
How many people with HSV2 show typical symptoms?
