worried i might have herpes...

Ok I had unprotected sex with a female about a week ago. The very next day I noticed mild itching/irritation on my genitals, little tiny red dots(not sores) on the head of my penis and the head was maybe a little sore. I also noticed a little bit of an odor even after showering.  I thought some of that may have been from oral and the rough sex. Later that next night I noticed a single, small sore on the shaft of my penis. It never was a  blister or even a pimple really, just was red and then a very small open sore. It isn't painful at all and the sore area doesn't itch. It doesn't seem as though it is from rubbing or chaffing though. I haven't had any flu like symptoms or aches or anything else other than the mild itching and the small open sore. I am going to get tested in a couple days but I have to see what others say....help please!

you wouldn't have had symptoms of a newly acquired herpes infection that quickly.

odds are your symptoms are irritation more than anything.

since you had unprotected sex, you should be following up with proper testing at the proper times. you can test for chlamydia, gonorrhea, trich and ngu after 1 week post encounter. syphilis after 6 weeks. herpes, hiv and hepatitis after 3 months. we don't have commercially available testing for hpv to cover that base properly :(

in the future, only have protected sexual contact! saves you worrying, protects you and saves you from having to test frequently for std's.

Hi again, i re-read your post and if you had unprotected vaginal sex with her your very at risk for all STD's. If your not having any burning or itching with a discharge at around day 5 after the sex, you can pretty much rule out Gono and Chlamydia but Herpes is very contractable with unprotected sex.

Thank you for the reply, I'm hoping it is just a fungus. I'm getting checked out for sure.

hi Worried. Your were at risk for herpes but normally its from open sore to open sore. The symptoms can appear from 2 to 10 days after contact. Could also be a fungus. Dont worry too much but do have it checked out asap.
