how much contact is necessary for herpes

I recently got a sore on my lips. This was second occurance in last 8 months. I never had sex with anyone. In my entire life, only on one occasion I kissed a girl down there. It was for less than a second and no bodily fluid could have transfered(it was very external similar to someone giving a quick kiss while dropping  at a metro station). Next day I had number of small sores on the upper lips and it lasted for 3 weeks. I could not think it could have been an infection. But now when i see it again for second time at the same place, I am very worried, stressed out thinking how would my family like be. I have not yet done any diagnosis but i suspect it is Herpes. Can Herpes spread through such a short contact?

This discussion is related to HSV1 and kissing.

You tried to post on someone else's post in the experts forum so it was bumped over to this forum. you have to pay to post on that forum.

cold sores are pretty common and you don't need to be sexually active to have them.  At this point you need to be seen and get a proper exam done. You can also ask for testing for herpes to see what your hsv1 status is. if you do have oral herpes, odds are it did not come from performing oral sex on someone.
