Can you get herpes from a male giving a female oral sex

I had a one night stand with a long time friend we used protection. I only had two sex partners in my life until the one night stand around 2/12 months after that I notice a bump in the lips of my private. So I called him and asked him did he have herpes of couse he said NO I did not notice and lesions on him. So you think he could have given me herpes from oral sex? I have none of the symptoms I read on the website only the one bump.

well I have to disagree with what you said - you said you didn't get any symptoms yet but obviously from what you've stated in your first post you have had symptoms.

So what to do now? Well I recommend you take the time to read the herpes handbook at www.westoverheights.com for more info on herpes. There is also a terrific video there to watch too if your provider didn't give it to you already.

So a hsv2+ female and a hsv2 negative male couple. If you do nothing but avoid sex during obvious genital symptoms in yourself then his risk is about 4%/year of contracting hsv2 from you. You going on daily suppressive therapy with valtrex reduces the risk by half. Throw in condom use too and on average your male partner would have a 1% risk/year of contracting hsv2 from you. Pretty reasonable over all right?

Thank God I never had any symtoms yet.  Do you think I will ever get an outbreak should I be on daily meds or not? My doctor dont think so since I never had an outbreak.  What if I get into a relationship how will I know if it is safe to have sex or not with no outbreak/no warnings?

It is possible if he has HSV1 orally he may have passed it to you via oral sex,I think it would be wise to have a test done just to be on the safe side and to avoid further concern about it,although I don't think this  is Herpes to be honest.
Alternatively have your Doctor take a look at it and get his/her opinion.
