Herpes Testing

I received my tests results back from a Herpes test.  I received negatives results for both HSV 1 and HSV 2, however, the third result for herpes simplex was indeterminate.  My level was 1.04 which is above .99.  In talking with my nurse she says test could be lab error on last test or I could of been exposed to herpes in the past.  I am going to to do a re-test in two weeks, however, I am freaking out as my wife does not know about this test.  I was tested for other STDs and all came back negative.

Your advice is appreciated.

3 months would be conclusive. testing at 3 weeks or even 4 weeks could very well show a negative results.

I was told it was indeterminate b/c it was under 1.10 and could be lab error since I got back two negative results.

Anything over 1 is positive. If you took the test 3 months post exposure and received at 1.04 it would be considered either a false positive or a recently acquired infection. If you took the test under 3 months, like around 7 weeks its a sign of a recent infection. Either way you need to retest to confirm. What was your testing time since you last exposure?

There is a 3rd partr for herpes simplex that look for anitbody levels.  Those levels are suppose to be below .99 and I'm at 1.04.  Doctor says if levels stay same after next test then I'm negative othewise if they increase then I'm carrying the antibodies for the virus.  Doctor believes I'm negative, but wants another test in two weeks to verify things.

Hi, what your saying is not clear. If you took an igG herpes select type specific test and was negative then your negative. What is this third test your referring to.
