Confused about blood and culture results

I have been in 2 sexual relationships my entire life.  I was married to the 1st man for 15 years. We separated 9 months ago and that was the last time I was intimate with him. 6 months ago I entered into a relationship with man #2 and we had unprotected sex the last time we had any sexual relations was apprx 8 weeks ago. I have been taken a creme medicine for vulva cancer cells for the past month and 2 weeks into the treatment I noticed that i had sores in that area. I immediately stopped using the creme and went to the OBGYN. Upon examination she stated that she thought it was a genital herpes outbreak. I was shocked as this had never happened to me before. She did a culture of the sore and a week later it came back negative for HSV. She advised me to have a blood test done at that time as she was positive it was a herpes OB. I had the Herpes Select 1 & 2 done and the results came back positive for HSV 2 with an IGG level of 2.51. This has put me on an emotional roller coaster.  I have had other health issues with cervical cancer back in 2008 and was tested back then via blood for herpes with a negative reading and again back in 2011 when I had a full panel of blood work done.  Could this be from Man # 2?  My husband immediately went out and was tested via blood which came back with a negative result that I confirmed via paperwork.  Man #2 told me that there was no way it could have came from him as he tested negative also and that his doctor was adamant that he should have shown symptoms by now.  I am just at a loss as to what to think.  I have only been with the 2 of them so someone passed this virus along.  Is there any way to find out if this is a recent infection?

yes, you need type specific herpes igg blood testing done.

that's a non-type specific herpes test which doesn't tell you a darn thing about your herpes status :(

was that a hsv2 igg or a combined herpes igg result?

Thank you so much for your response. I just looked at my notes and saw that I had written down my IGg levels were 25.1. Does that seem like a correct number?

since your lesion culture was negative, you'll need to confirm your status with additional testing.  you can seek out a herpes WB  to confirm your low positive hsv2 igg.  since the medications you are currently using can cause sores, confirming your status is worthwhile.

make sure your partner was tested for herpes - it's not a part of routine std testing in most clinics so he might just think he was tested for it.
