Constant itch-could it be herpes??

Since I was in middle school and not sexually active, I've had itchy labial/anal skin on and off. I became sexually active at age 17 and have been since (23 now). In 2013 I was diagnosed with/treated for chlamydia, but the itchiness that came along with that seemed to have stuck around. Difference is, its no longer itchy on the inside, just the outer labia and down near the anus (like before). Its been somewhat on and off since 2013 but these last few months its been practically constant with intense itch. The skin becomes rashy: open and somewhat raised but no actual bumps or blisters. At one point the skin peeled on each side. Since that particular event, the skin is much thinner and if Im the slightest bit rough while scratching, I bleed. Im afraid its herpes but Im not sure because the skin is ALWAYS itchy with not much else in the way of symptoms. Please give me some insight. Will be going to the doctor soon.

Went and got some cortisone cream as you suggested, and I've barely itched since! Im going to mention it to my gyno next time for sure, but as of right now I'm so full of joy  and relief :D

When i get itches like yours i use 1% cortizone cream (not oitment) with aloe but i use it sparingly. Usually the drug store has its own generic band which is cheaper but you can ask your pharmsisit more about this for your particular condition.

Thank you for your reply. To answer your question: No,I haven't- I've tried baking soda baths which gives some relief but not a whole lot. Is there a particular brand you'd suggest?

Hi, what your describing doesnot suggest herpes but more of a cronic skin condition that has been inflamed by constant scratching. The skin in that area is prone to bacteria build up from sweat so you might try using some anti bacterial soap and 100% cotton undies. Have you tried using cortizone cream with aloe?
