Could I have given myself herpes??

Hi,

So I have a cold sore right now and I was just looking in the mirror touching it with my fingers. Then I had to go to the bathroom and so I did and I wiped myself with toilet paper. I forgot that I had been touching my cold sore and so I didn't wash my hands before I went to the bathroom and wiped myself. Now I am worried I have given myself genital herpes! Is this possible?!? I am freaking out

So based on my original post, do you think I have any risk? It has been about week now since then and there have been no signs of anything.

Thank you for responding. I'm surprised that it was the worst you have had. I thought the level of difficulty with cold sores diminished as time passes.  Sorry you had such a horrible time.

It is not the first cold sore I have ever had, however it was the first one I have had in a long time an it was probably the worst I have ever had.

You have antibodies that will prevent the infection from being transmitted to another location.
