Initial outbreak or not

Initial outbreak or not? Last fall I was surprised by a herpes select hsv2 2.75 after a bad break up- learning my "faithful" partner was not faithful.  I thought I had no symptoms or outbreaks.   Have been racking my brain on this trying to remember anything out of the ordinary.  Early November 2009 after being with my ex for 3 months of unprotected sex we had rough long dry sex one morning. I had cough, cold and maybe flu like symptoms at the time- not bad. But remember buying cough & cold meds and a blanket for me to curl up in while we were driving to a family reunion. Couple of days later he goes and gets a prescription of his antibiotics filled for me since we were flying to Vegas. I remember at that timer all my girly parts were red and extremely swollen (my clit was hard for several days) , itchy and there was blood on the toilet paper when I wiped. Not like period or break through bleeding but like it was from cuts. I even remember using a mirror to look at it and googling herpes and looked at the pictures thinking that isn't it. And hoping it cleared up in a few days because we were going to Vegas for lots of fun. So is this common for herpes? I have had several women tell me they had the same symptoms and the doctor told them they didn't have herpes but later found out they did.  I so wish I would have had went to the doctor then.

at this point you still have no real answers at all yet :(  If you get a return of symptoms like you had in november, be seen promptly for a proper exam and testing. Otherwise you need the WB to rule out the false positive. repeating the herpeselect may or may not give you answers since many times folks will consistently test falsely positive on it.

if you call the U of washington lab, they can send the WB kit to you and you can ask your provider to order your local lab to draw the blood and send it back for you. Sometimes even the U lab will arrange for the testing to be done at your local quest lab depending on your location.

I couldn't convince them to do it. I am going to a new Doctor and going to at least have the herpeselect done again next month.
