Could This Be Herpes

Hi I have have been diagnosed with HSV2 about 3 years ago. I don't have any major outbreaks in my vaginal area outside of tingling and itching about every 3-5 months.  My guy friend is aware of my status and we have not had sexual intercourse. However, I have been for year stimulated vaginally by him fingering me, which he wears latex gloves. I want him to be I guess protected when he does this. I have provided him oral sex, which was heavy for about 8 months last years, but has subsided to rarely and we might have done the fingering and oral sex about 5-10 times total this year.

About 3 weeks ago, I provided him oral sex. About 1 week later he informed me that one day he experienced penile tingling. I've never had a lip sore/blisters of any sort, but became very alarmed and began asking questions. He informed me that there is no foul odor, discharge, sores/blisters/bums, itching or burning, just a tingling sensation in the penile area. He says he has been experiencing this for 3 weeks off and on, but it doesn't hurt. He says it only happens after he showers in the morning, but the sensation disappears.

He told me he changed his soap about month ago, but I am not educated on what allergic reactions from the wrong soap can cause to a males body.  I also don't know the likelihood of me having HSV1 bc my result showed that the strand was HSV2.  He was tested about a year ago for the HSV, but the results were negative for both 1 and 2, but I'm very alarmed bc of the penile tingling. I thought most signs of a pending outbreak could/would begin with the shedding (tingling, burning itching etc), followed by the outbreak itself with sores, blister, etc.  Can you educate me on what he may be experiencing? Thanks.

You need to have clear positives (say scoring above 3.5) for each of type specific IgG antibodies for HSV1 and HSV2. Otherwise false positives are a possibility.

Is this the case?

I am assuming that my HSV2 diagnosis was strong. I had it done twice 2009 and 2013. They both were positive. I am not sure how extreme the results were. Why do you ask?

This doesn't sound in any way like herpes for him. There are just too many things it could be such that seeking the advice of a dermatologist is the best he can do.

I reread your posts and have one question. Do you definitely have a strong positive IgG for HSV2 from the past?

Hi Fleetwood! My guy friend has stated that he has been experiencing hot flashes in his legs. When I asked him if it was in one part of his leg, he said at any point, he would experience the hot flashes in many areas of his body. He tested last year for herpes and both test were negative. I've read Terri Warrens herpes manual and it stated that people would experience burning sensation in the "infected area" during the prodrome period. I know how the burning sensation feels, but it's no hot flash.  Yesterday, he told me he had a darkened reddish rash on his thigh. I looked at it and it's a flat circular rash and the inside was of the skin area was its normal color. There were no raised bumps, no fluids, itchiness, burning or indentions in the rash area. Outside of the tingling penis in July, hot flashes in his leg and rash on his thigh, he says he is fine. According to Terri Warren, almost all initial outbreaks occur on the shaft of the penis, but he hasn't experience that either. What could this possibly be? Thanks for your feedback.

Hello Nurse Terri! I appreciate your time and knowledge. I have been diagnose with HSV2 (genital)years ago and was tested high a month ago for HSV1 after my guy friend stated that he was experiencing tingling in the head of his penis shortly after he showered each morning, for a few weeks,  but stated that the sensation would come and go. He chalked the sensation up to a change in his shower gel. I asked him if he had been seen or experience any burning, discharge bumps/blisters or redness of irritation. He said no and I looked at this penis and didn't see anything present. When I posed the question on the forum, I was informed, that tingling almost in most cases are followed by the actual outbreak....blisters etc.

The IgG test that I took wasn't specific in detecting what the location that was infected with the HSV1. Now, 2 months after unprotected oral sex, my guy friend states that he has been experiencing hot flashes in his legs. When I asked him if it was in one part of his leg, he said at any point, he would experience the hot flashes in many areas of his body. He tested last year for herpes and both test were negative. However, I know that this virus can lie doorman for months/years before one would even know that he/she is infected. I've read your manual and it stated that people would experience burning sensation in the "infected area" during the prodrome period. I know how the burning sensation feels, but it's no hot flash. Could this be a sign/symptom that an outbreak is in the prodrome state? Thanks for your feedback.

Let's wait and see what the HSV2 result is before speculating further.
