Could it be a false postive?

I recently went to my OBGYN bc i am 35 weeks pregnant for a weekly check up. and the CNP handed me a perscription for Valtrex. I asked her what this was for and she said i had herpes. I have had no symptoms, or outbreaks from the disease at all and the test was done in July and im just now learning about it. My husband has also had no symptoms. The test shows 1.10 positive. for HSV 2 IGG Herpeselect. What does this mean? HElP PLEASE!!!!

it's too late for you to get another blood test. You are too far along in pregnancy.  The natural hemodilution of pregnancy and some other factors will cause you to potentially not test accurately. The confirmatory testing needed done before your 3rd trimester.

They don't usually test for herpes which is why you've never heard anything from other testing.

if you've had other partners other than hubby during this pregnancy, that complicates things even more to be honest.

I know its weird that they didnt re test me. but they perscribede valtrex for me to take til the baby is born. Im getting retested next week and im having him tested as soon as i can get him to the doctor. I have no symptoms and he is the only person ive slept with in 2 months. plus ive had blood taken many times in the hospital and with Medic and they have never said anything. THANK YOU SO MUCH! you gave me a little peace of mind...

At this point it's rather late to be dealing with this. Too bad your provider didn't tell you this in july so you could've had all the testing you needed done by now.

1.10 is a very, very low positive for hsv2.   Has your husband been tested for herpes? If not, see if he can get tested this week.  If he's negative for hsv2, it's very, very unlikely that you really have hsv2.
