DO I REALLY HAVE HERPES ?

Okay I am 19 years old and have had two sex partners. I became sexually active when I was 17 and I was with the same guy for 2 years and we had (protected) sex alot . We broke up for a few months and I had protected sex with 1 other guy 1 time in june of 2008. My ex and I began to have sex again in the beggining of this year until may of 09. One night I got drunk for the first time and we had sex like four times 3 times protected and 1 time unprotected. when I woke up there was a bad odor when I whiped but then I took a bath and the odor was gone. The next day I began to feel itching sensations so I just thought it was a yeast infection and got monistat to treat it at the same time my cycle came down and the doc told me I could still use the monistat even though my cycle was down, but then it got worse and worse I had a few bumps that were really icthy and painful. There was fluid in them and then they bust and was even more painful to walk, urinate and sit.I went to the doc and got tested and I was diagnosed with herpes in early june.My ex says that he hasnt had any types of break outs are anything and when we have sex I look and make sure there is nothing suspicious and there wasnt. The guy i had sex with 1 time took me with him to go get tested and he doesnt have anything. She put me on Favir and I only used 2 weeks worth of the pills and since then I havent had any break outs are signs of another one even though I dont take the pills anymore  . My question is could It really be herpes? because I dont take the pills she perscribed and I havent had any breakouts since june of this year, could it be a different std,If my ex had the virus is it a possibilty that he knew or that he had minor breakouts and just never paid close attention to them ?

How were you diagnosed - blood test or swab/culture? HSV1 or HSV2?

Yes it could be herpes. Some people never have outbreaks after the 1st one...some people never have outbreaks period. Yes, it is possilbe that your ex had the virus and didn't know or had minor outgreaks that he may have thought was something else.
