Dear Grace,
Last 2 days my daughter is going thru high fever, for almost in 24 hours she touched 104 degrees few times. After medication her fever came down to appro. 99 degrees. Along with fever, she has chills, cough and her lips were swollen and reddish (near inner lip line) for 2 days and today it looks normal and no reddishness around inside lips.
My risk:
I kissed a CSW on her lips (no fluid exchange - but few peck on the lips). After 9 days i spotted an ulcer and 4 TINY red cuts (1 mm in size) which disappeared in less than a week. I feel like i am getting tingling all over my body esp. on and around lips for the past 1 week.
My status:
5 weeks since exposure, dont know if i am really infected or not. To ease my mind, i have taken IgG and IgM today which came back negative.
My daughter used to come and sleep in my bed in the morning times. She used to pull the blanket i have used, i noticed in 2-3 occasions and i immediately pulled the bed sheet from her. I am very scared, after 3 weeks from my suspected hsv symptoms she fell ill 2 days back.
My concern:
1. Is there any risk involved in this act by using the same blanket. She used the bedsheet after i woke up say after 5 mins or 10 mins in time.
2. Please tell me if my daughter is safe? (I didnt kiss her since exposure and i didnt come close to her at all)
3. How long hsv can survive in bed sheets or on hard/soft surface. People have written different time frame for hsv's survival outside body. We really need your thoughts on this, it will be really helpful.
4. As of now, she is doing good, is there anythhing i need to particularly look out for other symptoms had she contracted?
5. I love my daughter and i cant see her suffer at the young age of 6. Please tell me if she is safe.
Note:
Following my daughters illness, next day my wife and myself also having high fever, chills and cough till now. Is this all related to (oral) herpes symptoms.
Thanks a lot for your expert opinion and support.
you won't transmit herpes to your child that way.
sounds like you are all sharing a virus that is non-herpes and non-std. I hope you are all feeling better soon :)
