Difference between fissure and herpes?

Hey-

I'm back.  I'm going to get tested again soon (was negative for both HSV1/2 IGG after month of possible exposure ie dry humping with underwear on) since I'm in the 7-8 week period.

Just for my own sanity, what is the difference between anal fissures and Herpes?  I've heard stories where people think they have a fissure and it ends up being Herpes.

As I said before, I had about 1-2 weeks of my lower half experiencing nerve sensations (burning feet, sunburn feeling, sore muscles right above knees, sore knees - which could be a prodrome) and then I had felt a raw cracked feeling near my anus and my doctor confirmed I had a huge anal fissure down there.  I've seen it and it's right in front of the anus, probably as big as a dime and about half the size of a dime deep.  There's rarely any blood, but I was running one day and it felt like it opened up again.  The nerve (I don't know which nerve it is) that runs from bottom of scrotum to anus started to flare up and then it stung and itched in that area.  It's been a few days and it's calmed down, but it still feels weird.

I know it's been said that my exposure is zero risk for Herpes, but I just want to know the difference between anal fissures and Herpes?  Can anyone enlighten?  Thank you as always.

Has anyone experienced these symptoms?

What is that nerve under your scrotum leading to anus?  It's red on it and feels inflamed from time to time.

Thanks!

Fleetwood,

Thanks for the response.  I'm waiting for test results again (7 weeks in) to see if anything has changed.  It's just the weirdest symptoms:

- after 2 weeks, uncomfortable scrotum, headaches, and chafed feeling near anus
- a few weeks after that, all the nerve sensations on lower half of body, headaches, and sore joints while uncomfortable scrotum went away
- Then I had the fissure with lesion near anus.

No swollen lymph nodes, no flu like symptoms, no malaise.  And even the fissure never felt uber painful like I couldn't sit or pass stool, it was just there and uncomfortable.

Could my scrotum discomfort been Herpes and then touching it and touching anus I spread it?

As you know, I'm a super nervous, anxiety-ridden person and I'm wondering if the nerve sensations/sore joints/headaches were me freaking out...

But at this point, I don't know what to think.  My doctor doesn't think it's Herpes, but he also can't explain the sensations.  He said though the fissure could have been from me pulling my cheeks apart and spreading down there constantly too...

Sorry for the rant as always.

Yes but upon infection the sores always include the point where the virus entered the body and can spread internally to other nerve endings from there. If the pictures were of herpes around the anus then it was either a recurrent outbreak or an initial infection where that was the site of entry or had spread there from the site of entry.

A great deal many things cause lesions. If you were just infected, you'd probably have multiple lesions.

What do you mean by possible entry site?

I saw my doctor today (he's primarily a dermatologist by the way) again and he said the fissure is healing and I asked, "So no lesions or anything?" and he goes, "Well, it is a lesion."  To which I said, "So Herpes?" and again, he said, "I don't think so."

However, he's testing me again for Herpes and Syphillis.

I truly TRULY want to believe all this, but as soon as I hear lesion, I'm like, "What else could it be besides Herpes?"  And with all the nerve sensations and joint pain, I just assume that was a prodrome and now this was outbreak...

What do you mean "nowhere near the possible entry site for Herpes infection?"  I've seen pictures of Herpes around the anus.

Well this is becoming ridiculous. You had a zero exposure episode and you have a sore/fissure that is nowhere near the possible entry site for a herpes infection.

This is not herpes.

Please tell me which sites and I'll post the correct information.

Grace-

I don't mean to worry the way I do.  It's just who I am.

It's just making me sadder and sadder that I'm sure I have this disease (despite everything that's been said).  The whole nerve sensations thing along with this fissure or sore (looks like a canker sore) just make me believe I have it.  Other sites that I've been posting on also keep stating pretty much, "You got it."

Just trying to explain my situation.  Thanks.

you were seen by a medical provider who saw your symptoms and thought it was an anal fissure. Why are you doubting this from a non-risk encounter?

Don't be your own worse enemy and cause yourself needless anxiety!!!

Copy that.  This doesn't sound like an anal fissure, then right?

This is like a tiny crater right outside the anus.

Anal fissure are simply small  cuts in the anal lining that need to be analized and are most often associated with hemorrhoids not herpes.
