Do I have herpes?

I'm a twenty year old male. I had unprotected sex three weeks ago. I haven't had any breakouts on the skin or textbook, definite signs of an infection (fever, discharge, burning when urinating, lesions, etc). Although I have noticed that my penis under the foreskin (uncircumcised) is slightly redder than I think I remember. It doesn't specifically itch or hurt or anything, though. Does herpes often infect under the skin in that part?
Then, I can't tell sometimes whether it's my mind and worry playing with me or not. Off and on for about 2 weeks I have had muscle aches in my legs, back and more recently in my upper arms. Is this typical of an initial herpes outbreak for aches in the muscles to come and go for a couple weeks or is the symptom from herpes more of constant muscle aches?
I've been tired and feel a little sluggish with a slight headache recently but can't tell if it's just my recent crazy sleep times or my mind worrying I might have herpes or not. I don't have any significant itching or scratching down there but still can't decide sometimes if it's my head or not playing with me or just natural discomfort (clothes rubbing, etc.).
Any help is appreciated.

can be but it's usually just in one small area, not generalized.  jock itch is more likelywhen it's more than at a small spot.

I am having almost a similar situation in terms of not knowing whether I have real symptoms or my head playing games with me. I had protected sex, but unprotected oral sex with a girl who had a scab left over from a blister on her lip. It was a very small dot, but its been 2.5 weeks, and I have had little signs here and there that are driving me crazy all day long on not knowing whether it is or isn't herpes. My chief signs are my mouth has broken out a little with small individual pimples (not large/not blisters/slight redness) and occasional itchiness. Also, I had an extremely soar inner mouth one day last week, and since then soar throat, and I feel achy. I guess I am looking for same advice which is why I am on your post. GLTY and thanks for any advice that comes.

Thanks for the reply. A couple more questions:
If there is any itching/burning in the genital region, would it a constant itch/burn or could it come and go? Same with muscle aches?
Thanks again.

really nothing you've described sounds like you have a herpes infection goign on.

since it was unprotected sex, following up with std testing isn't a bad idea. You can test for chlamydia and gonorrhea anytime after 1 week  post encounter, syphilis anytime after 6, herpes and hiv anytime after 3 months. discuss with your provider if hepatitis testing is warranted or not too.
