I started dating my boyfriend about 3 months ago, and 4 weeks ago we had sex for the first time together. It was his first time ever, (or so he says) and I’ve had several other partners. We had drunk, unprotected sex, I performed oral on him and several times he would spit on his fingers and then finger me. After that. A week later, he felt burning sensation on his penis and pain on his testicles. So he went go get checked and urged me to get checked as well, as he thought I had given him something. I was afraid, because I have had a lot of sexual partners, and he hasn’t had any so I was sure it was me who gave him something. But no, all of our results came in and turns out that I’m completely clean, and he has HSV1. Which I don’t mind, by the way. I know it’s common. What i am wondering is, how is it spreadable? I’ve read it’s only spreadable through saliva but my nurse told me it’s only spreadable if we kiss during an outbreak. Second, th doctors didn’t test the little blisters he got on his penis, that week after... so I know they can’t tell for sure if it’s herpes, but we had a theory that I had gotten HSV1, and spread it do his penis during oral sex. Now we know what’s not the case. So what could’ve been on his penis? He didn’t get checked for everything, since he doesn’t have insurance, he hasn’t been able to pay for every test, but if all of mine came back clean, then he should be fine right? Also, how does this affect our oral sex life? Should I avoid him performing oral on me at all costs if I don’t want an infection? And what are the chances that I have it, it just hasn’t shown up in my blood yet? And as for sex, would it have to be protected at all times if I don’t want to get it? And if he got it on his penis, how are other ways it could’ve gotten there since I’m clean?
