Herpes or Yeast ??

I have currently been dating a guy for a bit more than a year and we are very serious. Both of us have been tested for STDs and all came back clear - except we didn't know ur doctors hadn't tested for Herpes seeing as we had no symptoms.

A week ago a started off by getting something resembling an anal fissure that was really painful - I didn't think much of it until a few days later where I noticed 3 pimples perfectly aligned around my anal area but closer to my inner but-cheeks.  They were very very red and irritated and some kind of fluid was leaking from them. I researched online and found info on genital herpes that included the fact you may have a swollen groin lymph node that would be a key hint to it being Herpes. I touched my groin area to realise that on the side where I have these pimples my lymph node is slightlyyyy like just a bit more swollen than the other side.

My boyfriend has no symptoms - and we've talked and he has not cheated on me. He was as surprised as I am as he has never ever had anytime herpes outbreak and is wondering where I got it from.

I have no sores on my vagina but since yesterday my vaginal opening has been quite itchy with a lot of milky blood-tinged discharge - what is going on?

Is all of this consistent with herpes infection or should I worry more about a possible yeast infection gone bad?

Hey, I am in a similar situation and maybe my experience will help. I also experienced a white-ish discharge wroth my outbreak (I'm still dealing with primary outbreak). It felt like yeast but that's been ruled out, as have all other stds and bacterial issues. It is absolutely possible that your boyfriend had had this all along and didn't know it. I knew my husband had Oral herpes and we managed for me not to get it for 13 years until now. He had absolutely no signs or symptoms when I got it from him.

Also my "cuts" disappeared without scabs.  I had a positive culture for hsv1 from a swab. And 20 days later a positive bliss test also for hsv 1. I hope this helps!

here is my update:
No results for the swab test - my gynaecologist is the least efficient person ever. All symptoms went away after 4 days of treatment with Aciclovir but it was weird because no crusting, nothing....
Could this have been something else? Like an Allergy? A yeast infection?
Both my boyfriend and I are getting blood tests next week to see if it was that or not.....

THANK YOU SO MUCH!

I think she did type it in as a culture because (I'm in Europe - don't know how it works in the US) but she is directly connected to a lab that gets most of her results back in 24h - I'm guessing if I can't get them before Tuesday it's a sign she's asked for a large spectrum of things ;)

As of today, my symptoms have almost completely gone - but then I've been taking Aciclovir so maybe it's a sign it really is/was herpes. Or not.

This is gross but does herpes ALWAYS crust over in its last stage? all my "cuts" have gone away and there is no sign of scabbing...  whatsoever...

I've asked my boyfriend to get a blood test after my results come back Tuesday - and I will be doing the same. Might as well get confirmation that it's that so we both know how to protect our next partners. For some reason - here - they don't test you for HSV at planned parenthood - and they don't tell you that! People wonder why so many STDs are still around, but if no one is aware you need to ask for a specific test, it's no wonder really....

I will keep this thread updated when I have my results, you never know it might help someone ;)

Good thing you have taken a swab, the results should be with you soon. Make sure they have typed it if it is a culture. If not, then ask them on the spot to use the sample to do so.

It is possible to carry HSV and not know it, or appreciate what it is.

Lymph nodes swell at just about anything, it is not limited to herpes at all. Any infection can cause the same thing.

HSV cannot hide anything more serious.

Discharge is not associated with herpes and is almost always an issue with bacteria or fungus.

Hi guys - here is an update... Got an "emergency" appointment with my gynaecologist yesterday, she said it definitely looks herpes but is not 200% sure about it. The symptoms are all consistent - before going to see her I actually saw two new "water blisters" appear. She isn't totally ruling out another less obvious possibility (irritation or allergy or whatever) but it seems unlikely it'd be anything but herpes. She took a swab test of the ulcerations to send off to the lab as well as a swab test from inside the vagina since i was having bleeding from there.

Is it possibly that my boyfriend has NOT cheated on me and that he has had this thing all along with absolutely no signs or symptoms? These kind of situations always leed to so much doubt...

The gyno also said it'd be a good idea to do a blood test to have confirmation - and I'm a crazy hypochondriac dead scared of Aids and I'm super scared that this herpes thing is "hiding" something else more serious.... This is such a horrible experience :(

Can herpes cause a bloody discharge? Or is that super rare?

Thanks for your answers guys :)

Vaginitis is an inflammation of the vagina that can result in discharge, itching and pain. The cause is usually a change in the normal balance of vaginal bacteria or an infection. Vaginitis can also result from reduced estrogen levels after menopause.ounds like you have vaginitis. here is the definition.

Hi, diagnosing herpes is either by swabbing the area or a blood test. The swab should be taken with in 48 hours after appearing. Since your having issues, i would suggest you both have the test.
But bottom line i would not be concerned your anal area is having a herpes outbreak as the area is not common. Same with your vaginal issues. Do see a doctor for an exanimtion for a possible yeast infection.
