Easing the Pain of a Horrific HSV1 Gen Outbreak

I was diagnosed with HSV1 Genitally almost one year ago. Its been a real struggle as I outbreak frequently, once a month or more. The genital symptoms are mild and almost impossible to see without aid of magnifying glass. Its normally the flu like symptoms that get me down.

I have recently been BLOWN AWAY with the most unbearably painful Outbreak I have ever had. Ive never seen so many lessions/sores down there before, there must be about 20 or more, covering the lower pubic mound, clitoris, labia, perineum, anus and surrounding crotch area. They are very large and extremely painful. I cannot sleep properly and wake every 2 hours in sheer agony.

Is it normal to have such a severe outbreak almost a year after the [not as severe] primary outbreak?

I have been travelling and under alot of stress lately so I am hoping thats what has caused this, and that I have not picked up HSV2 also!

I have been applying the blue Dermoplast spray to the affected area, applying rubbing alcohol (when possible), cleansing the area with baby wipes and applying baby powder, taking Ibuprofen and codeine tablets but still its not showing any sign of healing and im still suffering extreme discomfort.

I am holidaying near the beach, will sea water make this worse or will it help in the healing process? Can you suggest any other ways of easing the pain and speeding up the healing process?

P.S - I am not able to access any herpes medication while I am on holidays.

rubbing alcohol just dries out the skin needlessly.  I'd avoid that as well as the baby wipes since they too can have drying ingredients in them as well as ingredients that can trigger skin issues.

at this point, I recommend that you find a gyn willing to work with you and go for a very thorough work up to make sure that this really is just hsv1 genitally going on. having monthly recurrences with the symptoms you described in this post and your prior post on the forum would be unusual, even if you had hsv2. I certainly wouldn't assume that this is all hsv1 genitally going on by no means.

do you take daily suppressive therapy?
