Freaking out

Please help me!

After I broke up with my boyfriend I decided to get tested for everything because I did not trust him.  This was back in 6/22/2010.  My test result for Hsv2 Igg came back as a 1.32.  A couple of weeks later I went to a different doctor for another test 7/6/2010 and my results for Hsv2 Igg were 1.00.  I decided to wait a couple of months and on 9/28/2010 I received another Hsv2 Igg test and it came back as a 1.99.  All of my Hsv1 tests came back negative and I know they are useless but my Igm tests all came back negative as well.
I have never had any symptoms neither has anyone I have ever been with.  I'm wondering what is the possibility this could be a false positive because I have read anything under a 3.5 has a high possibility for a false positive.  Should I get the biokit?  Or the western blot test done?  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

as I said previously - you've had negative results and low positives so odds are you don't have hsv2. honestly I'd just let it go at this point and not go for the WB at this point.

Well I called and they told me my results came back negative!  It was an HSV1 and 2 IGG test and they said both came back negative!

correct - that isn't the herpes WB results. did you call for your test results because if they didn't do wb, they should be back.

So I have been waiting for about a month for my results for the western when my bill came today.  I thin they did the wrong test.  Where it says CPT Code it says 86695 and for hsv2 it says 86696.  Am i reading this correctly that these are the wrong tests??  Thank you Casey

yes your regular doctor can order this for you. if they use quest labs it's test #34534.

unfortunately not all providers are educated on the false positive issues with the herpes tests yet even though the CDC has been providing info on it for about 6 years now as have other easily found resources.

Can I ask my regular doctor to do this test and not my obgyn?  Also how come obgyn's do not explain all of this to patients in regards to their low numbers.  If this was explained to me i could have had all this done months ago.  Thank you Grace!

your hsv2 igg's are all low positives and even negatives.  At this point getting a herpes WB is the best course of action.
