HSV 1 Positive - I dont know if its oral or genital

hello terry,

i was recently diagnosed of having HSV 1 last week. my problem is im showing no symptoms of it thats why if its oral or genital.

Question:

1. i felt something in my penis (right before the head) something is crawling but it lasted only a second and it doesn't comes back. there's no sore or itchiness or bumps too. do you think its herpes or its just because its irritated by the soap i used recently?

2. i assumed having hsv 1 on my mouth even if there's no symptoms. can i transmit it to my genital accidentally? and can it be pass to my genital if i spit on it accidentally?

so what you're telling me if i don't have any obvious symptoms i will shed less?

most folks who have hsv1, have it orally. Only about 20-40% of folks with hsv1 orally, get obvious cold sores to know that they have it.  since hsv1 orally sheds more than hsv1 genitally does anyways, assuming it's oral when you haven't had any obvious symptoms orally or genitally isn't a bad idea.
