How long ago was it since you last had sex before you got tested?
grace
october will be a year... that was protected... and... before then three years... this was the first and only time that i have been tested for HSV :-( scared of needles....
You can test again if you want, but I wouldn't be too worried about it. Chances are you don't have it.
Aj
they told me to follow-up in three months... i will but i'll also keep an eye on "things" (lol) in the meantime... man i wish they didnt have to draw blood for the test... :-|
thanks
If you haven' t had sex in a year before testing then telling you to come back for retesting in 3 months was inappropriate. Repeating the test in 3 months is appropriate only when there's a chance of a recent infection that might still be in the process of seroconverting.
Since it's been 11 months since you last had sex then your 1.08 is a clear negative and there's no reason to repeat your blood test at all.

hey grace... i thought the same then i started thinking about some things... im almost 26 now but i remember when i was younger i used to get these pimple-like things on my eyes... someone said recently that those were because of herpes... and there was a time when i was 19, 20 when i used to get what, after doing some reading, i think were warts on my vulva and labia walls (?) and hmmm i started to think, last night actually, those were probably my outbreaks... :-/
oh well... why do you say clear negative when its so close to the 1.1?
and
do you think that your "level" could be higher at times depending on where you are in your "break-out cycle"? Like when its lying dormant would a person get an equivocal versus with a break-out a person would get a high positive?
thank-you... that was the question that I asked my clinician and she couldn't answer.
:-D
I don't know what was on your eyes - it wouldn't be herpes though. Also, we don't know what was on your vagina, but if they were warts, it has nothing to do with herpes.
We don't really know if your antibodies would go up and down with outbreaks - but your test is negative even though its close to the cut off. Even without an outbreak, you still would test in the positive range.
Aj
... last question :-) atleast for now... (and thank-you for your attention)...
why then would i test so high?
... they're saying that i may have been exposed... im like o.k. then that means i have it.
there so much of a gray area around this issue!
It's just the way they do the test. It's nothing to worry about tha tyou have a 1.08 negative vs a .45 negative. Both results this long after the last time you had sex are clear negatives.
