HSV-2 Worries

Hi,
Appreciate any help in the community to answer my concern.

I am a male. I had a relation with foreign 10 weeks back while using a condom during intercourse.

I am feeling itchiness, some pain in my inside penis. I am not having any sore or blister noticeable.

1. is my sympton a common HSV-2?

2. How conclusive is my blood test at 10 weeks for herps specifically and other STD?

3. If I don't have any sore/blister, do i transfer HSV-2 in case I am positive for HSV-2?

Thanks for your help..

16 weeks is recommended for people with HSV1, only a few percent of infected people seroconvert according to a blood test after 12 weeks.

Really appreciate your input which is very logic. My last question regarding my concern for HSV-2. Do you considered really my negative test result at 12 weeks conclusive where I don't need to be retested?

thanks for you support...

I would doubt very much that you were infected with oral HSV1 12 weeks ago. With a single cold sore some 11 weeks after exposure to another female given the stress, it is overwhelming guy the case that you've had this infection since your youth. Most likely, a parent, aunt or uncle has the virus and transmitted it to you.

1. As such, no medication is required. Your body obviously copes tremendously well with the virus just like over half the people with the virus.

2. 3 Absent a cold sore, it is very difficult to transmit the virus unless you are shedding and rub your lips vigorously on a sensitive skin part. Both your wife and kids have been exposed to this virus and quite probably don't have it. Just take extra precautions of avoiding contact when your lips don't seem quite right. Now that you know if your HSV1 status, you have just lowered the risk for those around you.

Your wife has at least of 50% chance of already having the virus from her youth as well. Perhaps she could test too. If she's positive then the two of you have nothing to be concerned about as you cannot infect each other further.

Problem with my current worries, it is too long to wait another one month (16 weeks) for a conclusive test.

1. How much 12 weeks is considered conclusive for HSV1 & HSV2?
Regarding my genital symptom, I don't have any symptom currently. I need to do my blood test to release my stress about my current and previous symptom for HSV-1 & HSV-2.

I am really worried about my family to introduce infection to them in case I acquire HSV. I am not sure how much medication is efficient in case I have HSV?

Thanks for your help...

If you have developed a single cold sore on your lip at this stage, the chances are you have had HSV1 for a considerable period of time, probably since your youth. The stress you are presently under has probably contributed to the outbreak.

Of course if you aren't familiar with cold sores, this may not be one.

In this situation, try to get to 16 weeks before testing. A positive HSV1 result I would suggest indicates a prior infection.

You were previously worried about genital symptoms, have they subsided? An oral infection will usually be independent of a genital one.

Hi,
Last week I developed a cold sore on my lips which really worries me for HSV-1.

1. Is 12 weeks or 16 weeks required for conclusive blood test HSV1 & HSV2?

2. Is it normal to develop a cold sore after 11 weeks in case of HSV contracted?

Thanks
Sam

It would be a little more typical to have symptoms 2-12 days after infection. However depending on various factors, particularly current HSV1 status say, this may not be the case.

Even then, it is more typical for herpes to result in symptoms including cold sores and resolve over a couple of week period and not cause continuous symptoms.

As there are exceptions though, the follow up testing is still recommended.

Symtom start 2-3 weeks after exposure and still occuring with discomfort feeling..

I visited urologist one month after exposure, I inform him about symtom without discussing exposure I had. he did urine test for me checking out for any infection I had where my lab test come clear from any bacteria..

3 weeks back when symtom persist, I start search internet for more causes where I come across herpes HSV-2 and my worries become more serious!!

1. Is it normal for HSV-2 symptom to stay for weeks without developping any sore/blister?

Thanks for your help..

This does not sound like a herpes infection from the encounter. Exactly when did the symptom occur relative to the sex?

10 weeks would be quite conclusive but since you're already at this point, wait for 12 at least before testing.

If you are positive for HSV2, and that's to far forward thinking just now, then yes it can be transmitted without sores present.
