HSV-2 on Arm?

I was diagnosed with "HSV-2" at the age of 17, however I've never experienced an outbreak in my genital area and i am now 21, furthermore i do however experienc painful sores on my right arm by towards the shoulder area and they tend to be painful, extremely itchy, and hot around the "outbreak" area. I was wondering if a herpes blood test can diagnose HSV-2 on the Arm? and still not have it in the genital region?

definitely get a copy of the blood test to post here. All I need to see is the numeric result - ie hsv1 igg 5.4 and hsv2 igg 2.3 or whatever they are. that way we can be sure you were properly tested and see if you need additional confirmatory testing.

are you on any medication for your hsv2?

has your partner been tested?

next time you have this arm rash, be seen within 48 hours of the appearance of the rash for a lesion culture and typing if they suspect that it looks like herpes. You can have herpes on other body parts but the only way to confirm it is with the lesion culture.

I was originally diagnosed via blood test, and I just requested i'd be screened for all STD's and the HSV-2 came up in my blood, I'm requesting a copy of the labs from that time and will see what test where performed.

How were you originally diagnosed as having HSV2? Had you been sexually active and what prompted you to be tested?

Having HSV2 on your arm would be highly unlikely. You would want to see your your medical provider for a swab/culture of the area to know what's going on.
