HSV I & 2 - what are the odds..

my bf & i both tested postive for HSV 1&2. My results by ELISA were:

HSV 1 - 1.6
HSV 2- 1.4

My bf's results were pretty similar to mine (both under 2, but still positive).

From the info on this very helpful site i know that to confirm the HSV postive status either WB or Biokit is the way. Once i can i will. But my questions are,

1. Seeing that we are both positive, albeit low positives, what are the odds of BOTH of us being falsely positive?
2.  Would it then be a waste of time/money to do the confirmatory test?

Your opinions and feedback will be greatly appreciated.

I have no idea, you'll have to contact clinics in that area and find out.  You can also try checking out yahoo groups to see if there is a NYC herpes group active there and see if they can recommend a place to get it done. another option is call the biokit folks to see if any clinic in that area uses their product - 1-800-926-3353 is their number in the US>

Thanks for the feedback. I'm due to be in Brooklyn later this yr. Can you tell me the name of a place that would do either the WB or Biokit?

It's never a waste of time or money to do confirmatory testing.  You both should do it.
