I just feel so guilty...

I recently had unprotected sex with my new boyfriend.  I have hsv 1 genitally but had only 1 bad breakout about 2 years ago.  After having sex with my boyfriend, a day later I had an outbreak, which I believe was brought on by sex.  I fear i have given it to him.  How likely is it that I transmitted HSV 1 gentially to him?  I appreciate the advice.

also make sure he gets tested for all other std's too  since you are having unprotected sex with him.

have you both had your gardasil shots?

your partner will need tested to know his own status.  a lack of obvious oral or genital symptoms doesn't mean he doesn't have herpes. you two can't make educated decisions about what precautions to take until you know who has what.

if the sex brought on the recurrence, you weren't shedding during the encounter and he wasn't at risk. make sense?

i have, but he said he hasn't ever had signs of a cold sore, which i know doesn't mean he hasn't had it.   I just feel so bad because i didn't know i was having an outbreak until literally a day after intercourse....any info is appreciated

have you spoken to your boyfriend about hsv1? there is a chance he already has it orally, in which case it would be very unlikely that you have transmitted it to him genitally.
