HSV1 IgG

Hi all,

How significant is a HSV1 IgG level of 2.1?
Herpes serum PCR negative at time of a burning sensation in left inner thigh.

well a blood pcr test for herpes is a total waste of time and money. herpes is not a blood borne virus so testing for it via pcr blood testing isn't worthwhile.

you had absolutely no need for any std testing from a handjob.  What has happened to you is spent money needlessly and took medications you never needed. Now you've gotten yourself a fungal infection that it sounds like you didn't even properly treat. Now you've irritated the skin again ( and  most likely the fungal infection is back ) and now you are panicking again.    you don't need any more std testing. resume the topical antifungal. You need to use it 2x/day for a full week AFTER symptoms disappear, not just 5 days.  Also be sure when you masturbate you use a good lube.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. I have never had any ulcers or bumps to swab. I had unprotected handjob with an escort about 6 weeks ago (she touched herself briefly with lube before she started on me) and when I checked my HSV IgG and IgM when I became symptomatic ( had a tingling feeling and ache in left groin) - the IgM for HSV 1 was low positive and IgG negative. I had taken Azithromycin stat, 14 days of tavanic and a 5 days of zelitrex. Things then eventually all cleared up after about 2 weeks with no lesions at all. A few days later I then I had a red rash on inside of both thighs which cleared up after about 5 days of antifungal cream. Now, after a long self masturbation session 5 days ago I started getting same symptoms again the day after - tingling in left groin and a burny feeling. No skin lesion or rash at all. I did my bloods - IgG for HSV now 2.1, and PCR (blood) for HSV negative, IgM also negative. No discharge, no dysurea. Left testicle a little tender at epididymus head (as it was last time), a burny feeling in my inner thighs and buttock creases. Now there's an ache in my left buttock. Intermittent tingling in my legs - both legs, various areas. Only used anti-inflammatories and antifungal cream. Had initial tests done: chlamydia serum negative, HIV negative, urethral swabs negative, urine dipstix and MCS negative.

did you have a blood pcr for herpes done or a lesion pcr swab ?

A hsv1 igg of 2.1 just means it's positive. other than that it doesn't mean anything. Most adults will test + for hsv1 whether they can recall obvious cold sores or not.
