HSV1- bumps on lips now

I got a cold sore last Saturday on my bottom lip and now it has been bleeding and forming a yellow crust on the area. Sometimes it drips down on my lip and I have to peel it off, which sometimes makes it bleed. I think I got two cuts on my lips too so I have been trying to keep them covered from my cold sore with vaseline. I apply abrevia and vaseline to the sore multiple times every day. When I woke up this morning, I noticed little bumps on my bottom lip. They aren't red or white, they just blend in with my lip. They are visible if you look and feel them though. I have read that it could be because my chap stick is old. I have my vaseline in a little container and I wash my hands before I use it to put on my cold sore. Do I just need to replace my vaseline?

Thank you for your time.

the vaseline is fine to use. it won't really help with your oral herpes ob but since you can't leave your hands off of it and are picking at things, it will help the skin heal better.

these new bumps don't sound herpes related at all. sounds like noticeable oil glands in the lips that are just more prominent due to the lip products you are using.

try not to pick at your lips and give the skin a chance to heal :)

I have a lip balm for cold sores so I'll switch to that and see what happens. Thank you :)

Hi, i dont think putting vasoline is a good idea as is petroleam based, try a natural lip balm instead.
