Herpes 2 years later?

I woke up this morning and saw a very small, shiny spot on the head of my penis. It wasn't there yesterday, so it definitely spooked me. I took a towel and gently swabbed at it with my finger, and it looked like a little bit of skin flaked off. Again, it was very tiny and no fluid appeared to emerge after I touched it.

Now, I haven't had sex in just about two years. The last time I did, it was unprotected and with a partner whose history I do not know. About three weeks after that instance, I had myself tested at a clinic. Tests came back negative for syphilis, chlymidia and gonohrrea (sp), and I showed no symptoms of herpes. I went away for that summer and got tested at the same place again when i came back, some 5 months after having sex and with no further exposure, but I was still a little paranoid. Again, the results were the same and I showed no outward signs of herpes, so I wasn't swabbed for it.

My question is this ... could this be herpes, even 2 years later when I showed nothing to suggest I had it 3 weeks and 5 months after possible exposure?

Thank you to anyone who can provide insight.

Thank you for the responses. I haven't seen my doctor, mainly because I'm moving across the country next week for a new job. Honestly, I haven't worried or even thought about it in some time, just seeing something at least questionable brought some of those feelings back. Thanks again.

This could be one of many things; no need to think herpes. Quite honestly what you describe doesn't even sound like herpes -  flaking skin sounds more like eczema. Have you been seen by your medical provider?

You can opt to get igg bloodwork done for herpes, after a few months of exposure. This does not sound like a painful blister that erupted and scabbed over, and is most likely not herpes.

I would ask that you consider the damage worrying about a red spot does to your quality of life. It's healthy to be concerned for your well-being and of others, but after two years you're most likely in the clear.
