Herpes 2 cut on finger

I have a close guy friend and we tell each other everything I know he has genital herpes also. He asked me the other day a few questions. He's currently has had the virus for 8-9 months. He has a cut on his finger and said when he uses the restroom he's worried about pushing the virus from his shaft into the cut on his finger when he touches himself. He will wash his hands for 5 minutes to make sure the virus is off his hands and not settling in on his cut to develop whitlow. I tell him I was for 2 minutes to be sure can someone explain this about handwashing and cuts and just plan handwashing so I can show him to help calm his fears? Thank you

Also if he has herpes passing it to another part of the body is close to zero risk as have antibodies to help prevent this.

Whitlow is from hsv1 not hsv2. Hsv2 is considered sexually transmitted.

Wouldn't a open cut ion the finger be a soft type of mucous membrane layer? Creating a open area to the body? From shaft touching cut on finger?

Needs soft type muscus tissues direct contact.

In theory wouldn't it be direct skin to skin contact? Shaft to hand?

Herpes needs direct contact. Its a very fragile virus that does not survive long outside the host. All most all eye herpes is from traveling up the facial nerve from hsv 1 oral.

So why do people say you can get herpes on your hands from cuts? Why do people say it can spread from your fingers to eyes?

Can herpes spread to the hand or other objects from not washing your hands? Say he uses the restroom washes hands for 15 seconds no soap then sits down and eats a slice of pizza can this spread to his mouth, cell phone, other people anything?

Hi, most whitlow is from hsv1 so not much to worry about. just wash hands as normal to avoid any unseen chances.
