correct - it's not that the blood tests aren't accurate, it's that 1 - people don't get tested to know that they are infected and 2 - most people have such mild symptoms of herpes that they either don't think twice about them or attribute them to other causes and never pursue proper testing to be aware of their status.
so this is more about the symptoms or "showing evidence" rather than saying blood tests are inaccurate?
what that paragraph says it - 1 out of every 5 people over the age of 12 and under the age of 50 has hsv2. of those, only about 1 out of every 10 people infected with hsv2 are aware that they are infected with the virus.
make more sense?
thank you. I am reading it now. But can you clarify this becuase i thought the IGG test was an accurate measure.
"HSV 2 is the virus usually associated with genital herpes infections. About 22% of people in the US over the age of 12 show evidence of HSV 2 infection when their blood is tested by a test that accurately distinguishes between HSV 1 and 2. Of those infected with HSV 2, only about 10% know it."
the free herpes handbook at www.westoverheights.com has terrific info on herpes. have you had a chance to read it yet?
yes you can still use tampons with herpes.
