what caused you to get tested?
grace
I had a bad yeast infection; first ever by the way, so i went to the doctors and got checked for the yeast and decided to get check for all the STD's and do blood work for them too.. U kno since i was already in the whole Pap position.. So i get the blood work done and comes to find out i got detected for something.. Herpes
Im happy i got tested but not happy with the results... Im still unsure what herpes i have but i am still going to get tested again.. From what i read i see that HSV 2 is the worst to have but im not sure what HSV 1 is all about.. Im still uneasy about knowing all this..
Well there is no way to tell until you get symptoms where the infection is.
If it is a type 1 genital, then you may have less frequent and severe outbreaks considering you never have had apparent symptoms.
Did the doc test for yeast or herpes by swabbing the area?
Just because your bloodwork shows positive for HSV1 does not mean your symptoms are genital herpes. Only a swab/culture of the area can tell you that. Statistically your HSV1 would be oral. Oral herpes is an incredibly common skin condition; most of us won't make it to the old folks home without it.
So, no reason to think you have genital HSV1 unless you've tested positive via a swab/culture for it.
