Herpes Diagnosis... is the doc wrong??

So I go to Mexico and get some type of bacterial infection a day before leaving.  Just nasty and it took a week to get over...  A day after returning from the trip (second day of Diarrhea) I get this ulcer on my soft palate.  I'm tripping out so I go to the doctors and he proceeds to tell me it looks like Herpes (in fact he is pretty sure).  And then he tells me in my file that another doctor reported an Aphthous ulcer (no description as to where it was) over a decade ago.  Maybe he is trying to prevent me from freaking out by suggesting I have always had Herpes but this is the internet age and I know it isn't the same thing as Herpes.  To throw a wrench in all this my best friend who I share beer, pipes, and smokes with broke out 4 weeks ago and I shared a pipe with him a day before (maybe hours)!  What a mess.  So I was thinking primary infection maybe or ulcer.  I'm trippin.  Taking blood test in 2 weeks.  Any thoughts?

sorry bout that - would remove if i could.  was in such a frenzy that i didn't know one was there and didn't read the intro.  really spent about 8 minutes doing all of this.  to anyone else ignore the pics.

First off we don't look at pictures here.  I am requesting the mods to remove the links in your post.  This is covered in our read before posting.  

This could be anything.  The best thing is to have a hsv igg type specific test.  It is too bad that they didn't culture it.  Visual diagnoisis can be wrong 1/3 of the time.  But at this point no way to know.  

The risk from herpes in the why you are feeling is not really a risk for us adults.  It takes those long romantic type kisses.
