Post sex anxiety, specifically over potential transmission of Herpes.

Hi everyone,

Recently, I had my first 'hook-up' with someone I had known for a short time period. Most people my age seem to have had dozens by now, so I felt socially pressured to go out and experience it as well. During his encounter I received oral, a hand job after she had touched herself, and one session of vaginal intercourse. I wore a condom during vaginal intercourse only. Vaginal sex was quite brief and there wasn't a lot of friction. Immediately following sex we were conversing and she told me she couldn't remember how many partners she's had. This was a red flag, because she was only 19 or 20. Now I'm concerned about the potential of having contracted an STD, herpes specifically, since it is very likely she has been at least exposed to it.

When I'm not worried about STD's; I'm really concerned over potential pregnancy. Although she said she was on birth control, I used a condom, and pulled out I'm still concerned for a few reasons. I know this isn't the pregnancy forum, but I can't find answers for these particular questions anywhere else. After sex she began talking enthusiastically about babies and how 'crazy' it would be if we had one. This is where I began to freak out and look back on the event to analyze whether or not I messed up and put myself at risk. This is what came to mind.

In an attempt to go for round 2 of vaginal intercourse she had put the condom on backwards first, instead of throwing it out she just flipped it around. At the time I didn't much of the fact think that secretions would have been in the outside so I refrained from getting a new condom. I say 'attempt at round 2' because I didn't really penetrate much (if at all) before the thought that the condom could have had residue semen on the outside entered my mind and I lost erection as a result. Nonetheless after some googling I found that it is possible to impregnate someone by having some residue on the outside of the condom. After removing the first condom I forgot to wash my hands and engaged in foreplay with my fingers, is there any chance that residue on my fingers could have impregnated someone in this manner? Lastly, I left my condom in the garbage and failed to flush it. It wasn't tied up but I am concerned that after I left (30 mins after throwing it out) perhaps the sperm in the condom could have been utilized or recycled in some way. I know this is irrational, but I've heard stories before online of this occurring. Is it even possible in my scenario?

Lastly, she said she was on birth control (I did see a patch) but there is no way to verify if she was using it as prescribed to ensure effectiveness as I don't know this person well.

Am I at risk for anything here? Or am I being overly irrational? The baby and partner talk really has caused a lot of anxiety I've never experienced before and makes me want to refrain from ever engaging in a book up again. I keep imagining a text from this girl in a few months saying she is pregnant and I want absolutely nothing to ever do with her again. I feel like there is this strange burden always in the back of my mind, and that my life and relationships with future partners I actually like could be ruined if I get herpes or got her pregnant.

Hi Yes your being a bit over rational as she could not get pregnant even with the condom on backwarks with secretions. Your bigger risk would be from the oral and herpes but if she did not have any lip sores at the time your risk is close to zero. Same with genital sores.
