Herpes.. how high is the risk?

SOoo.... I've been dating a guy for sometime now.. and we have NOT had sex yet. Well today I found out that a female I know dated him a few months ago and stayed with him a couple weeks.. she has herpes. I'm almost positive that they had sex in that time period. But what I wanna know before I go ape **** on him.. is there any possible chance that he didn't get it from her? I know herpes is for life.. and know it's worse when you're having a outbreak.. being that I know her, I feel like I know she would have kept her legs closed if she was having an outbreak. So is there ANY chance that he might not have got this from her?

I think your course of action is pretty clear. If it is more than 12 weeks since he could have possibly been with her then suggest you both testing for STDs explicitly including HSV. You both want to know your HSV1 status for example.

Sell it on the basis that you confidently want to have tons of unprotected sex!

I'm gonna ask... it's just I'm scared because we've been dating a good while and we're good to each other so he hasn't been with her in months... so I'm scared that if he has it... he should most likely know by now... and if he cared he would tell me before getting intimate.... so I just wanna know if I can possibly believe him that he night not have it if he says... regardless, I will make sure he gets checked...

Yes there is but depends what type of sex they had to determine the risk level. Bit bottom line there is a risk and his unknown status. If i were you i would certainly want to know his status before getting intimate with him.
