Herpes or not?

Occassionally I get a small boil that forms on the outside of my pubic area. It starts as a bump under the skin that itches and then a small boil 1-2 days later. The boils do not ooze or bust. They do not cause any pain, only minor discomfort, mostly itching. They get smaller and disappear within 2-3 days. Could this be herpes?

It could easily an irritated or infected hair follicle - very common with shaving pubic hair. Be sure to use a clean/new razor often when shaving to prevent infection/irritation. Since we can't diagnose on a web forum though, see your medical provider when you're symptomatic if it concerns you.

Herpes lesions heal like a sore would, they will crust/scab as part of the healing process. Yours does not sound like a herpes lesion given that, and the fact that it disappears in a very short time-frame.

You should show the boil to your doctor.  Having them look at it they can also attempt to culture the bump if they feel its herpes.

Have you had a Herpes IgG type specific test done to know your current status?
