Herpes or something else?

Hey, I'm a 28 year old male and have been having unprotected oral sex only with the same person for a few months now.  One day I noticed small bumps on the head of my penis alone.  Let me mention that these bumps are painless and don't resemble blister form and all.  I immediately went to the doctor and had the viral culture test completed...which came back negative.  The person that has been performing oral on me has never had any signs of cold sores.  I have been under a lot of stress lately and before the bumps appeared, I was masturbating almost 3-4 times a day with no lube.  After all the research I've done, they don't seem to match up to herpes...no fever, back aches, pain...so I'm totally confused what this could be.  Any help is greatly appreciated.  I first thought it could be scabies becuase I do have itchy bumps on my chest/torso, arms, back.  What the heck is this? Scabies maybe?>

actually it's a high false negative rate, not a high false positive rate.  that said, I still stand by my original response.  I would not start valtrex unless you had a confirmed + lesion culture for herpes. getting a proper diagnosis at this point is far more important than valtrex.

also no, valtrex doesn't build up in the body.

There is a high false postive rate with cultures.  If you were seen within 48hrs of the bumps appearing you can depend on the test.  

The fungal infection doesn't scab over but the scratching and damage you do to the skin can.  Scabing is how the body repairs the skin.  Valtrex takes time to build up in the body.

It doesn't sound like HSV.  Why don't you and your partner go get tested to know what each other has and if this even needs to be a concern.

I have another question for you.  The bumps that I mentioned before did eventually scab over and have started to go away.  That is the only thing that resembled a herpes outbreak.  I was just wondering if the swab test was something I could rely on or if I should have a blood test done.  Can a fungal infection scab over.  I was also working out and getting sweaty while wearing european style breifs.  I'm probably looking too much into this again...but I also read where most outbreaks were very severe and painful. Can I once again rule out herpes due to there being no pain what so ever? When I went to the doc, I was prescribed Valtrex just in case but the symptoms didn't go away.  Thanks in advance.

it doesn't sound like herpes going on. odds are it's just irritation. use a good lube when you masturbate!  You have to be kind to the lil guy :)
