Herpes or thrush?

About 2.5 years ago I had protected oral sex/ unprotected contact with bare hand with someone likely to have herpes. Up to now I have had no symptoms/feelings of sickness though my girlfriend has had several period of bad health and severe headaches lasting months, but she suffered from sinusitis and could be cause along with added stress.

For the past 2 years I have been in a relationship with my girlfriend, who has been my only sexual partner in my life except for the earlier encounter and i am her first sexual partner. For the past 2 years we have had sexual contact but We haven't had full sex due to complications (she needed surgery to widen vagina). Last week we tried partial sex/oral sex and since then she has had very bad pain/itching/discharge/redness around her vagina and anus and her throat is getting sore - so I'm very very worried I could have passed something onto her without realising.

About a week before (can't remember if before or after, think before sex) I found it very difficult to pull back foreskin to wash penis, but didn't think anything of it at time. Now I notice that there is a faint red rash around the head of the penis especially the underside and thick white discharge at base of foreskin. I have read these are the symtoms of balanitis/thrush - my penile hygiene hasn't been particularly praiseworthy in the preceding weeks.

She originally thought it to be thrush and saw a sex clinic yesterday who said it looks very severe for thrush and to see gp. Likewise the go have said it could be something more serious and she is awaiting test results.

My questions are: is it possible for her
to get thrush from me if I have balanitis/thrush? What else could it be if 'more serious'? - is this just STDs or other infections too - is it possible I could have caught/passed on something? Should I be worried how badly it seems to be affecting her? I know the only way to find out for sure is to wait for test results but the suspense and guilt are overwhelming and I'm very worried she may need sooner treatment if it is more serious! I'm just praying that it is something mundane and easily treatable! Any advice or suggestions would be hugely appreciated!!

Hi thanks for your comment!! It just worries me that it's hardly noticeable in me but then seems very severe with her! Is this normal do you know?

Hi, it is possible to pass fungal infections back and forth. Its not an std but comes from a change in the skins pH. She could have gotton it from you or you from her.
Your hand affair is not any risk for any std.
