Herpes worries

So June of 2007 I was involved in a sexual asualt (was a virgin previous) a few days later (def before 5 days) I went to the emergency room and they got the police invilved and I was sent to a county hospital... I was seen by a doctor (it is all a bit blurry) and she said she thought I had herpes and gave me the medicine for it. I never felt the pain or saw the sores (dont know if I looked or not ... this time in my life is a bit of a blur). I was tested for everything else and thankfully came back negative. I have not had any outbreaks... Its 3 1/2 years later... I never was called and given results of any tests and have been intimate with my current boyfriend with and without a condom and he hasn't shown any symptoms...I finally got up the nerve to tell him about "The incident" && he didnt seem to be concerned.... I recently talked to an obgyn about it and she didnt seem to concerned and said she was a bit uncertain that results where a certain thing but also said that a herpes blood test wasnt really something I should worry about. Could the first doctor have been wrong ? What to do next?

follow up with the igg blood testing and go from there.  best to confirm your status for once and for all so you can deal with it better.

he'll still need tested so that you know what his hsv1 status is for your relationship.  always better to err on the side of caution when it comes to your reproductive health.

he also should be tested to know his status. has he also had full std testing done?  would be a shame if you tested negative, he never tested and actually had it and you ended up with it anyways at one point.

really worried and nervous but have decided to ask to take the igg blood test done for herpes

i told my boyfriend of one year (we are sexually active) tonight about being visual diagnosed when the assualt happened an being given medicine but never having anything since then.
He didnt seem to be very concern and said he loves me either way...

my question is... he has never had an outbreak... & for the most part we use condoms... what are the chances he has contracted it from me? (i woul be devestated and feel horrible i wasnt upfront in the beginning but it was a hard subject for me)

Also I beleive I was only visually diagnosed and didnt feel anything wrong down there && the lady whom examined me said i have herpes and gave me valtrex but i was never given results or anything. is it possible she visually misdiagnosed me? it was my first time having sex so i would suspect there to be cuts and such

no it doesn't tell you where you have herpes but it is very helpful at helping you narrow down if you have hsv2 or not.  Just make sure if you get tested through kaiser that you get type specific herpes igg blood testing done. some folks have problems getting the right test done through them sometimes :(

if you didn't receive oral sex as part of the assault then if you only test hsv1+, odds are it's oral even if you can't recall ever having had any obvious cold sores.

thanks for your quick responce.... & happy new year... I talked to a obgyn at kaiser and she said a blood test for herpes wasnt really ideal in my situation (i think i recall her saying that because it woulnt tell me where I have it)... but I dont unerstand? ... my biggest problem is that since I never felt or saw what they were saying was herpes  and was never given a result so I dont know how they feel there for I cant tell if i am having an outbreak... this has added a lot of emotional stress to myself

definitely following up on this with a type specific herpes igg blood test is in your best interest. You were visually diagnosed with having herpes at one point and the proper follow up is blood testing to confirm your status.
