Should I be Worried?

Before I start, I'll tell you that I already have an appointment with Planned Parenthood next week.  I'm just very nervous.  The last time I had sex was about 9 or 10 months ago, a one night stand, we had sex twice, and I did use condoms, although uprotected oral was involved.  In the year prior to that, I had fooled around a couple of times, never quite getting to the point of penetration (hooray alcohol!) , once without a condom and once with.  Prior to that I was in a 2 year monogamous relationship.

Last year I had a doctor tell me I had some mild epididymitis, that seems to come and go, and in March of this year I had a couple of red, scaly lesions appear on the head of my penis.  I went to the doc about a week after they showed up and he told me due to my lack of recent sexual activity (I haven't even kissed anyone since last August) and the fact that the lesions didn't look like typical herpes, he wasn't concerned.  I'm concerned though that a suburban family doc doesn't have the exposure (pardon the pun) to STI's that a clinic would. The lesions fluctuated a little in their intensity, but after a second trip to the doc (saw a different MD this time, same office), and a fluconazole Rx, they seem to be fading more.  They haven't left entirely, but now I'm using monistat.  I guess I'm just freaking out a little, the groin/testicle pain was pretty bad last monday and tuesday, and my penis does have intermittent, short lived, tingly, burning pain.  I guess my question would be is it possible to have a herpes outbreak that doesn't seem to go away?  I've read about people who's outbreaks are so frequent they seem like they never stop.  I should say that I don't really have blistering, but more of a raised red area, sometimes with flaky skin that could be described as a plaque.  Am I worried needlessly?  Does the prodrome continue while you have an outbreak or does it fade once the outbreak happens?  Should my epididymitis and testicle/groin pain be a concern for herpes or even chlamydia?  I wish I didn't have to wait a week for my appointment, I'm losing it.

You don't need the higher strength for jock itch/athlete's foot that you do for us gals when we get vaginitis.

It's not likely you are having a non-stop herpes ob.  If you want to know if you have herpes, get yourself a type specific herpes igg blood test. Even if you do test + for hsv2 , that doesn't mean that you don't also have a whopper of a fungal infection going on too.

BTW, why is it that I can get miconazole 4% cream if I buy monistat, but if I buy it over in the foot care section for jock itch and athletes foot, all I can get is 2%?  Any pharma reps around know the answer?
