Hi there,
I am not certain that I was infected - I was thinking that if I had really been infected, shouldn't I have seen something by now? Basically, while I have been waiting the appropriate amount of time until I can get an accurate blood test, I have been monitoring myself for some visible sign of a genital herpes infection. But I haven't seen anything. And your comment that I should have seen something withing 2-20 days is encouraging. I will definitely be getting a blood test regardless. 3 months since initial exposure should be long enough to get an accurate test reading, right? Or should I wait one more month?
Regarding your other question, my partner was diagnosed with HSV2 by a culture done from a single "bump" on his penis. He had this culture not long after we had unprotected sex. The strange thing, though, is that his bloodwork has come back negative for HSV2. He had suspected that his previous partner had infected him, but there should have been enough time since then that it would have shown up in his blood by now...
How do you know you were "indeed infected"? Only testing can confirm that. Yes, symptoms would have appeared within 2 -20 days. Get an IgG type specific blood test to determine your herpes status.
How was your partner diagnosed as having HSV2?
