Herpes Simplex IgG

GKP
I was exposed to a partner with HSV1 with no outbreak, and about 5 days later developed large (5mm-10mm) vesicles in the suprapubic region with a single small lesion present at the base of the penis. I had unilateral lymphadenopathy, and the lesions subsequently ulcerated. 3 HSV IgG tests have been negative over 12 weeks. These tests were through LabCorp. When should I expect seroconversion to occur definitively?

Thanks

At this point the only thing you can do is to wait and if you get a return of symptoms, be seen promptly for a lesion culture and typing.  Even the best blood tests still miss 1 out of every 10 hsv1 infections but you don't even know at this point if this is herpes related.

sorry that's not quick and good answers but not much else we can do at this point.

Mainly clinical, no smear or culture. Igm was positive at first, but I now realize that is such an unreliable test with low specificity that most don't recommend it. I do have a history of Herpes Zoster as a teenager, and I thought that may be a possibility

A lesion culture of active symptoms would've been the most helpful.

This might not even be herpes. what other sort of work up have you been thru?

I feel the same as you. I am just waiting for the tests to turn positive. When were your tests that date from exposure? Labcorp does the Captiva test. I took a Herpeselect from Quest and it was negative as well.
