Hello. I've read some places that hsv 2 provides immunity to hsv 1. But I am not sure if it has to be in the same location. I first acquired hsv 1 orally this year. I kissed someone with a healing cold sore, and bam two weeks later I got my first one ever. I have gotten 2 recurrences since then. This caused me to do a lot of perusing the internet and research into the virus, and I subsequently convinced myself I have hsv 2 genitally as well for no reason other than my anxiety plus the statistics. I've never had any symptoms or anything. I have not been able to find a straight answer to my question. My question being, *IF* I had hsv 2 genitally, would the antibodies have provided me immunity to acquiring hsv 1 orally? If I JUST acquired hsv 1 orally, would that imply that I did not already have hsv 2 genitally? (or hsv 1 for that matter?) If not providing immunity completely, would it at least have made it asymptomatic or not recurring? The fact that I just now contracted symptomatic, recurring hsv 1 leads me to believe (has me hoping) that the hsv virus in general is new to my body and immune system. I got tested yesterday for hsv 2 , I'm waiting for the results, but in the meantime, my anxiety is paralyzing.
