I Think I Have Herpes

About 2 weeks ago i was swimming with a couple of my friends, and since its the summer there is a bunch of mosquitoes and bugs outside and i thought i had felt a bug go up my shorts and bite me on the side of my penis. But throughout the rest of the afternoon i didnt see any form of irritation where this mosquito or bug might have bit me. Then the next day when i was at work i felt a really strong itchy feeling right around the same place, but thinking it was just the mosquito bite i just kept going on with my day. then when i got home i saw that that i had a big red bump on the skin right where the shaft and head of my penis meet. I immediately started freaking out thinking that it wasnt the mosquito bite, but possibly herpes. I have only been in sexual contact once in my life with one girl i barely knew. We had unprotected sex, but i never saw any form of bumps or any abnormalities on her. I started researching online about herpes and i found out that it doesnt show up in some people and that it can lay dormant for years. so im really starting to worry that i might actually have herpes. The bump on my penis has not gone away for about 2 weeks and hoping that it was just a mosquito or bug bite i messed with it a little bit. I kept thinking that if its just a bug bite in 2 or 3 days it would just scab and disappear like all the other bug bites in my body. but it has barely scabbed and it still looks about the same size as it did when i first noticed it. I don't know what to do, i just want to know if I do have herpes or not from the intercourse i had with this girl or if im just over reacting over a little bug bite. please help.

this doens't sound like herpes going on.

at this point follow up with your doctor for better answers.

i also forgot to mention that it doesnt really itch or bother me unless i start to mess with it, then it starts growing a bit getting swollen but eventually it goes back to its original state
