Would prodrome symptoms last weeks without outbreak?

I been having symptoms for about 8 weeks now. It all started after one protective vaginal sex encountered. It was a one night stand, I don't know the hsv status of that person. I remember that same night my penis was burning and it hurt. The following day I had a bit of discharge and burning urination. My doctor put me on antibiotics doxycycline and a shot of Ceftriaxone. The symptoms seem to cleared up.

The following week I noticed a that penile head gland skin was cracked. Shortly after the whole skin of the penile head gland started peeling and also on my foreskin but there was no pain what so ever. It didn't itch or hurt. My doctor gave me antibiotic ointment and it clear the skin peeling.

I got tested for everything it was a full std panel. Everything came back clear except for hsv1. Which I know I have.

After that two weeks when by and I had intense pain in my penis that lasted 4 weeks but still no outbreak. I have been seen by multiple doctors but they all tell me my penis looks normal.

I have talk to Terri from "Westover heights clinic"  and she told me that "I do not think that this sounds anything like herpes to me. While someone could have herpes only in the urethra, that would be uncommon since most herpes infection also present with sores on the genitals."

I asked Terri if she thinks I should retest for hsv2?, which she said "Nothing you have listed here sounds like herpes to me. If you still have discharge you should check back with your doctor. I don’t think there is any need to retest for HSV 2, no."

Now I still having burning and itching in the penile head gland. But I don't have sore or bumps or  lesions. The tip of my penis burns when I urine. And the skin of my penis head glad is still cracked and there's a bit of discoloration.

Now my question is would hsv2 symptoms be on going for 8 weeks without an outbreak?

I know Terri said my symptoms don't seem anything like herpes but I just can't let it go since I'm still having symptoms.

Maybe I'm just jumping into conclusions, always thinking the worse that's cause all this symptoms.

Was mycoplasma on your STD panel? It isn't usually, and it should be.

In all your doctors, have any been a urologist?

Are you dehydrated? Dehydration can cause your symptoms, too. Make sure you are drinking plenty of water, and avoid caffeine and alcohol.

Hello auntie  jessi,
No mycoplasma wasn't included in the std panel. None of my doctors have been urologists. I do need to drink more water. I haven't drank any alcohol for 8 weeks now. But I do need to drink caffeine since I work 12hrs to 14hrs a day. I have started feeling better since I started relaxing. I been anxious and in a high level of stress since that happened. I now understand that, stress and anxiety can cause those symptoms as well.
Okay, so for the next few days, drink 2 waters for every 1 caffeine drink you have. Caffeine will also contribute to anxiety and stress. (I used to drink a LOT of it - I know.)

Don't stop the caffeine cold turkey or you'll get a really, really bad headache.

If this doesn't help, see your doctor and get checked for mycoplasma and get a referral to a urologist.

Also, to answer your original question - prodrome only lasts 2 days tops. It's a warning sign that an outbreak is coming. After 2 days without an outbreak, it's not prodrome and is caused by something else.

This isn't herpes.

Feel better. :)
Thank you so much auntie Jessi!!!
You been so helpful, I will do just that.
You're welcome. :)
