I am freaking out, I need questions answer please! :/

Hello I am a 21 year old girl and just recently i found an ex boyfriend had herpes. I haven't hung out with this ex boyfriend for almost a whole year.. and i just recently heard he had herpes, I even asked his cousin to confirm it and it's true. So being a hypochondriac that i am I freaked out for a day or two and just convinced myself like "Nah I don't have herpes, I never had an outbreak." Well after a couple weeks I had an itch on my hip and it's above my public line and I freaked out and starting to get anxiety about it. It was three white bumps, it didn't hurt and it only itched one. So i freaked out and went to ER to see if they could tell me what it could possibly be and i told them I was a bit scared. The doctored didn't swab it he just looked at it and diagnosed as dermatitis and gave me cream. I was in and out within 10 minutes with no other tests, they also said it was two high to be genital herpes. I wasn't convinced. So I scheduled an appointment with my Gyno the next day and I didn't get in until the day after. When i went to they Gyno i told them my concerns and then she tells me my Pap Test back in 2010 said I was exposed to the Herpes Virus. Well I was shocked because they never told me. They said that my pap was negative but told me I was "exposed" to the herpes virus. After that my mind was running in different directions and I was on the verge of tears. She than examined me, gave me a culture, another pap test, and also sent me to the lab to get the HSV2 blood test. Well she said that my cervix and discharged looked healthy and normal. Now I am even more confused... I read online that being exposed to the herpes virus means you have hsv2. I've never had an outbreak since 2010 all my partners that I have had since than (no condoms were used) never got anything. I was with my boyfriend on and off for two years and he doesn't have herpes. In 2011 I caught shingles quickly and got on meds and the rash went away but sometimes I still have pain and I certain shirts irritate it. I also had cold sores ever since I was a kid. I won't get my test back until next week and the blood test wont be coming back until next Friday. I am just really confused. I really hope I don't genital herpes I keep telling myself I don't but i can't help but worry and it's worrying me. I am so stressed out and every little feeling I get "down there" i freak out. Only two people know about my situation is my boyfriend I am with now and said he will support me no matter what and my mother. I've never had symptoms I mean not that I have ever noticed.

Questions I want answered..
Can the HSV2 test test positive if I had shingle in the past?
If was exposed to herpes almost three years ago why hasn't any of my past sex partners had any symptoms?
Why did my doctor not bother telling me in 2010 that I had been exposed?

Hello Grace. So i've been having very horrible anxiety about this situation and every feeling or itch I get I start freaking out. I hate to wait until Friday to know the results, it's killing me. Also I was checking myself over today and I discovered 7 white bumps in a row, it only hurt once when i was having a bowel movement. It's inside the lips of my vagina. I know it's there so now it's irritating and I am so scared. I took a picture of it (sounds weird i know.) and zoomed in to take a closer look at it. It's not filled with bumps and you can't really see it unless you stretch the skin to get a better look at it. Please help :/

Oh okay well for the pass couple days I've been having this kind of white thick discharge plus I should be starting my period soon. I read many people breakout in shingles over and over again. I might just call my primary doctor tomorrow and set up an appointment hopefully he can get me in tomorrow.

less than 5% of folks who have a shingles ob get a recurrence of shingles. It doesn't typically happen.  

you can have a discharge with herpes ob's - typically it's clear.

They sent me with a paper when I went to go get the lab and it said blood testing for hsv2.
Can shingle outbreaks develop in other places? It's only a single red spot but it had 3 white bubbles, it kind of scabbed and I am actually starting to get a tingling burning sensation on my hip and where my shingles were before it bothering me. I haven't itched at all.
So i've been kind of depressed, stressed out, haven't been eating and it's on my mine 24/7 for the pass two days. I am going to call tomorrow to see if they got my test results back, but i wish i wasn't stressing so hard about this. Also does genital herpes have a discharge?

once you get your test results back, write them down to post here and I can better help you - e.g. hsv1 igg 4.6 and hsv2 igg 4.4 or whatever they are. same as I can help you with your bf's results too once he gets tested.

thank you for telling me where your shingles was at. Sometimes genital herpes on the lower back area is misdiagnosed as being shingles so I always like to ask. your location was too high up to be confused with genital herpes.

And honestly I think my doctor was trying to "scare" me because she was lecturing me that I need to be in a committed relationship. It felt as if she was just trying to rush me and I was practically in tears and she is like well there is nothing you can do blah blah blah. She def wasn't making me feel better about the whole situation.

I had a shingles outbreak about a year ago on my back underneath my bra line. I got meds and stuff and it went away but when I am stressed out it starts to hurt. I had a little rash on my hip a couple days ago. They looked at it and said it wasn't an outbreak of any kind of herpes, and no my partner I am with now has never even gotten checked out ever since I've known him.

a pap test isn't an accurate way to diagnose genital herpes. The way it detects possible herpes isn't very accurate. your gyn erred greatly in not notifying you of the  pap results and not following up properly with type specific herpes igg blood testing based on those results.  

where was your shingles ob? did they actually swab that rash to diagnose shingles or just visually diagnose you as having shingles?

has your current partner had herpes igg blood testing done too?  he really should have it done because you will both need to know who has what regardless of your results.
