I think I have herpes (photos)

I may have scored a hattrick when it comes to herpes.  I had unprotected sex on December 17th which is about a week ago.  I got painful sores on the left side of my shaft.  I picked at the sores and the tips came off and oozed white cream pus.  They dried up and now are dark and raised.  http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v640/pfictionfan/infection.jpg

Without realizing it, shortly after touching the bumps I rubbed my right eye.  Starting yesterday (12/25) my eye was red and it hurt.  Today I woke up and my eye was completely crusted over and much more red.  http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v640/pfictionfan/eye.jpg

Then while getting up and ready for the day I noticed my lip felt like there was a bump on it.  I looked at it in the mirror and noticed a little whitehead looking thing on my lip.  I haven't tried to squeeze it or anything but it is a bit painful.

Question 1:  Does the shaft look like it is herpes?
Question 2: Does my eye look like it has an ocular herpes infection or is it just an eye infection?
Question 3: I never get cold sores so is this possibly HSV2 oral?  Would abreva work?

RESULTS!  Kind of confusing ones but results nonetheless.

the blood work came back negative since the breakouts were 2 weeks go there wasn't enough time for blood to test positive.

Swab on my genitals and swab from my eye both came back HSV-1.

So the normal cold-sore.  I was happy at first but then started wondering.  Now will I always be susceptible to getting and transferring HSV-1 from my penis?

Should I stop using Tobramycin since the eye isn't bacterial but viral instead?

btw thank you so much grace for your feedback it means so much to me and the other nervous and confused people in the world struggling with these symptoms.

the valtrex dose should be 1gm 2x/day for 10 days.

abreva isn't effective at speeding healing of cold sores either :( It barely got FDA approval to say it is and only speeds healing less than a day sooner than using a placebo. Not worth the money they charge for that teeny tube and besides the valtrex will take care of it for you.

Sorry I had seen other posts with pics I didn't know it was against the rules.  I did crop all photos so there is no inappropriate material.

I went to my General Physician and he said the sores looked very herpedic.  He checked my eye for ulcers(flourescent lamp or whatever) and there is no cloudiness in the cornea so it's not keratitis.

He swabbed my eye and the sores.  Although the sores were hard and he too said they may not give a good enough sample(false negative)  We also took a blood sample to test for Herpes and HIV(just to be safe)

He has me on Valtrex 3 times a day and tobramycin 2 drops every few hours.  I also picked up Abreva for the bump on my lip.

This is day two of my dosing.  No changes yet.  But I'm trying to stay hopeful.  My eye is very red and the caruncula is very red and hurts.

I may go back to the doctor soon because my right nasal passage seems to be infected somehow too.  Clear sticky fluid comes out and my nasal passages on that side are very sore and swollen.

we don't look at pictures here. why not is explained in our read before posting post located under the important announcements tab on the forum.

bottom line is - you need to be seen and get a  proper exam and diagnosis. You need to be seen sooner rather than later . odds are your eye isn't herpes but best to follow up promptly to be sure.  also I pretty much disagree with what the previous poster posted.

since this has been there for a few days now, less likely you'll get an accurate lesion culture but it's worth a try.   treating based on a visual diagnosis for starters is also very helpful.

stop back and let us know how your appointment went :)

It is problably HSV 1 on your genitals, face and eye then possibly.

HSV 2 you never get on your face and eye. HSV 1 seems to be possible to get lots of places.

You should check up the eye thing. Have heard it could give serious complications if it spreads.

best of luck
