Is it herpes?

So for the past few months or so, I have noticed a single bump on the shaft of my penis. It has not gone away and returned, nor blistered, and it does not hurt at all. I don't even remember when it appeared, but it has caused me some concern. A year ago I engaged in unprotected mutual masturbation with another man--I touched his penis, but he did not touch mine. Now, I don't remember if I touched my penis with the same hand that had touched his during the encounter, but when I got home I washed my hands with hot water and soap. I don't know if herpes can be transferred in such a way (other person's penis, to my hand, to my penis) but this encounter makes me think that the raised bump on my penis shaft is, in fact, herpes. I have not yet consulted my physician about this, so I am extremely anxious as to what it is. Can anyone please help? Thanks.

So you don't really think it's either HPV genital warts OR herpes?

Not an HPV wart. It's possible to transfer HSV from one site to another with the fingers - it's how autoinoculation happens, so theoretically it could have happened in your situation. However your symptoms do not sound at all like herpes symptoms. Have it looked at by a urologist.

Bottom line is that you have a bump your concerned about so the best course of action is to have a doctor take a peek but from what your describe the wart showing up a year later is not consistant with hvp

So then in the scenario that I described it is unlikely that the small bump is an HPV wart?

hand to penis if the ward is on the hand or penis to penis.

Okay, but HPV is spread by my penis touching a wart on the other guy's penis? Or can HPV be spread by my hand touching a wart on his penis, washing my hands with soap later, and then touching my penis with that same hand?

If your concerned have a doctor take a look otherwise we are only guessing. But hard raised bumps that dont go away could be a wart or even an inflamed hair follicle.

okay, and so do you have any idea what this bump COULD be? I would like for it to go away already..

HPV is spread by direct contact from touching a wart so from what you describe it would not be possible

Would I get HPV from that sort of activity that I described above?

Hi, this kind of bump is not a symptom of herpes. It appears, scabs over and heals in about 2 weeks. It would not be there all the time. Also mutual masturbation is not any risk and bottom line he did not even touch you. If its hard it may be a wart from HPV but only a doctor would confirm this by visual diagnosis.

Does not sound like herpes. It is very very hard to transfer herpes from his penis to your hand.  The skin around the hand is not the same as the skin on the penis.
