Is it really Herpes

I was told by multiple doctors for the last seven years that I have HSV.  It does well under Valtrex treatment, but recently I had another outbreak and the doctor took a culture this time(never actually done one before) and said it is negative for HSV.  Is this possible?

you can get a type specific herpes igg blood test done so see what your status is. odds are it's hsv2 if it's reoccurring like this but since visual diagnosis is wrong, it's best to confirm your status.

has your partner been tested ?

My OB is thinking that i need to start using it daily soon, i didn't have outbreaks for a long time until i had kids and then they started happening every few months.  I was originally diagnosed just by visual diagnosis by three different doctors, it was never cultured before now.

lesion cultures have a high false negative rate.

do you take valtrex every day?

how were you originally diagnosed?
