Is this herpes or something else?

Three days ago, I noticed a single bump on my inner thigh. Painless when touched. Using a mirror, I decided to inspect the locations near it that I could not see normally, and I noticed a patch or cluster of similar bumps. They are red and itch very badly. Sometimes they burn. A few days after, the bumps started to get scaly and dry, and the skin beneath them was red and purple--like a bruise. Recently, more liasions have appeared just south of the original patch, and after scratching, blood came from one of them. Not ooze or abnormally-colored discharge. Not really sure what to think of this. I checked online, and none of the pictures look quite like what I'm experiencing.

I haven't had sex in over a year. But I did have sex with someone who, I later learned, had herpes. This was nearly four years ago, and at the time, there was on "outbreak" on this person, that I could detect with the eye.

Please help.

Have you been seen? That's the first step and only way to know what's going on.
